Effects of smoking marijuana
Marijuana is the most widely used illicit drug in the United States. These observations justify concern about the potential adverse pulmonary effects resulting from the long-term smoking of only a few marijuana cigarettes a day.
Single-Dose Nicotine Toxicity
In experimental animals, the dose of nicotine that is lethal to 50% of animals varies widely, depending on the route of administration and the species tested.
Third-hand smoke
Another issue that is currently raising eyebrows is the concept of “third-hand” smoke. This refers to the particles of smoke that linger on smokers’ clothes, hair and the carpets and furniture of a room for days, “outgassing” toxic vapours. Young children may be at particular risk, since they could ingest the residue while crawling around or mouthing their toys.
