Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) like the nicotine patches or gum can double your chances of quitting for good.
NRT stops or reduces the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.
This helps you to stop smoking, but without having unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
Many states in US conduct an action to distribute free nicotine replacement product.
For example BOISE, Idaho offers would-be ex-smokers and can request free nicotine patches, gum and lozenges from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s Project Filter.
The Idaho Legislature approved $700,000 to run the nicotine program for fiscal year 2010, which began July 1.
Project Filter program manager Jack Miller says he’s pleased to be back in business helping smokers to kick the habit.
You also may participate in other program on the site New York State Smokers’ Quitline.
All you need only to full form to check if you eligible for a free starter kit of Nicotine Replacement Patches.
More than 5,600 Louisiana tobacco users received free medication including free nicotine patches last month to help overcome their addiction to tobacco. The promotion, which ran during the month of May, was funded by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals’ Tobacco Control Program and the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living. Citizens who called the State’s Tobacco Quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669) received free nicotine replacement therapy patches and cessation counseling.
Maine, New York and Ohio have all had similar nicotine replacement therapy promotions and reported positive results. Six months after their promotion, New York conducted a follow-up survey which determined that 22 percent of those who had received nicotine replacement therapy vouchers were no longer smoking, compared to 12 percent of quitline callers who did not receive any vouchers.
Findings were similar in Ohio and Maine.
